Our e-charging station Pico has passed the type examination required by metrology law. This certificate is the gold standard among certifications for e-charging stations. It marks a significant milestone for Pico and paves the way for a wide range of applications in which the charging station can be used immediately, while ensuring legally compliant billing.
“Eichrecht” certification is a supplement to MID certification. While MID certifies the precise measurement of the energy charged, the Eichrecht type approval goes a step further by ensuring that the amount of energy billed is exactly what is charged to the customer. This fosters transparency and trust, as the customer can always verify that the billed energy matches their own consumption.
Overview of the Required Certifications
As of 2023:
Germany
The importance of this type examination under metrology law for the smooth operation of electric vehicle charging stations cannot be overstated. In Germany in particular, this certification is essential for publicly accessible charging stations. For residential and semi-private use, MID certification is sufficient to ensure accurate measurements.
Switzerland
Currently, MID certification is required for use in private and semi-private settings, which ensures the accuracy of billing in residential complexes or similar scenarios. While Switzerland does not currently require metrological certification for public charging stations, the ongoing discussion reflects a growing awareness of the need for such measures.
Pico is ready
Our e-charging station, Pico , has proven itself in the wake of these developments and already meets the demands of the future. Thanks to its dual certification, Pico stands not only for technical precision but also for legal compliance and consumer protection. We are proud to be one step ahead with Pico and to be driving electric mobility forward.
