The Challenge: Decentralized Intelligence Is Needed

A geothermal network is a complex system in which environmental heat (e.g., from Lake Constance) is distributed via an extensive pipeline network. One of the biggest technical challenges here is measuring the energy flows. Since the transfer stations and measurement points are spread throughout the entire city, the measurement infrastructure must operate in a completely decentralized and location-independent manner. A traditional, wired data-reading system quickly reaches its limits in this context.
