M-Bus Gateway
The all-in-one solution for your smart building with data collection for multi-energy such as heating, cooling, water and gas.
One device for all your multi-energy meters: our gateway is the universal collector for your consumption data. It processes up to 50 M-Bus meter readings for water, heating, cooling or gas, regardless of the type or manufacturer of the devices.
As a reliable on-site assistant, the gateway collects all values and transmits them independently via Wi-Fi to the smart-me Cloud. This makes automatic recording of your energy data and billing simple and straightforward.
Thanks to its open architecture, the gateway is highly flexible in use. Installation is quick and easy, enabling seamless integration into existing systems.
Easy online setup
The gateway is easy to install and can be conveniently set up online via a computer, without the need for any special software on site. Connected M-Bus meters are automatically detected and added. This saves time during commissioning and significantly reduces installation costs. Meter monitoring and system adjustments can be carried out remotely at any time.
Fits in any electrical panel
Modernize older buildings easily and without expensive renovations. Our ultra-compact M-Bus Gateway makes it possible: it fits into even the most crowded electrical panels and simply clicks onto the DIN rail. Upgrading becomes a simple and clean process.
Wireless integration via LoRaWAN
Simply connect meters for heat, water or cooling via the wireless LoRaWAN protocol.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions about the M-Bus gateway
What is M-Bus?
A data protocol for transmitting multi-energy data. M-Bus meters can be easily integrated into the cloud using our gateway.
What are the advantages of energy data in the cloud?
This allows billing to be automated. Alarm messages enable early detection of failures or anomalies, and the data obtained can then be used to optimise self-consumption and energy-efficient operation (EBO).
What is LoRaWAN?
A wireless radio protocol for transmitting multi-energy data over long distances. LoRaWAN meters are slowly gaining popularity and can be easily integrated into the smart-me Cloud via a LoRaWAN gateway.
How many M-Bus meters can I connect to a gateway?
50 M-Bus standard loads can be connected. As a rule of thumb, this corresponds to approximately 30-35 meters – but this must always be checked individually.
Does the gateway require a separate power supply?
Yes, the gateway must be connected to the power supply in the electrical distribution board.
How is the gateway connected to the internet?
Like all smart-me devices, the M-Bus has an integrated Wi-Fi interface and communicates directly with the cloud via this interface.
Can the data read out also be sent to a system other than the smart-me Cloud?
That’s no problem. The open API interface allows seamless integration into any third-party systems. In addition, the data can also be transferred via a standardised interface to the popular property tools from Immotop2, RimoR5, Garaio REM and Abaimmo.
