FAQ – Frequently asked questions about smart-me meters
What amounts of electricity can smart-me meters measure?
Virtually all of them. Direct measurements are possible up to 80A (Telstar) or 100A (Nimbus). With transformer measurement, even very high energy currents (transformer ratio adjustable) can be measured precisely.
What data quality do smart-me meters transmit?
The data can be transmitted in real time. This allows users to see live how much energy is being consumed.
Do smart-me meters fit into every electrical distribution system?
Yes, there are different formats available for this purpose. The space-saving DIN rail devices are particularly suitable for new buildings. The 3-point meter fits into existing meter spaces in existing buildings, so no unnecessary conversion work is necessary.
What does ‘MID certified’ mean and why is it important?
In order for a measuring device to be approved for billing electricity, it must meet strict accuracy and quality standards. MID certification is a government inspection carried out by METAS and guarantees that smart-me meters meet these requirements.
smart-me meters also have load profile certification for Switzerland. This guarantees that the meters measure correctly every 15 minutes. This is particularly important in ZEV so that solar power can be distributed correctly among the various parties.
Do I need an additional gateway or data logger for the smart-me meter?
No, smart-me meters have an integrated Wi-Fi interface and use it to communicate directly with the cloud without any additional hardware.
What happens if the internet connection (Wi-Fi) is interrupted?
The smart-me meters have local storage for the measured values. As soon as the internet connection is restored, the data is uploaded to the cloud and billing can be carried out seamlessly.
